Puerto Natales is a Chilean City located in shore of Admiral Mont Gulf, in the XII region of Magallanes. Is the Main City of Natales Community and of the Province of Ultima Esperanza, named so by the expeditionary that catalogued it with the “Last Hope” to find the Stretch of Magallanes from north to south. Located nearly 250 km to the north of Punta Arenas.
The inside of Ultima Esperanza, originally habited by tribes of Kawesgar and Aonikenk, was ran in 1557 by navigator Juan Fernandez Ladrillero in seeking of a path to Stretch of Magallanes. Immigrations of Germans and Britain’s in the century XVIII and XIX maintained sheep livestock, principal economic activity of the region. Finally, in 1911 was founded officially the city of Natales Port. Actually Paine’s strong point is the tourism, being the entering door for tourist expeditions to Paine’s Towers National Park, known world wide by its beautiful. Too is the Milodon Cove Natural Monument, ancient home of a mammalian with more 3 meters of high and was herbivore.
To this port arrives the crafts from Montt Port that connect Magallanes territory with resting country, due to there are not yet union by ground way between Aisen and this zone in the Chilean territory.
