Some Monuments of the Chilean Patagonia

   Historical Museum "Palace Sara Braun" in Punta Arenas

The Palace Sara Braun is probably the construction most typical of the city of Punta Arenas. Its environment - the Plaza Muñoz Gamero and the beautiful buildings that surround her - it is allowed that the above mentioned palace should illuminate all its brilliance and refined beauty. For its history, the building evokes all the strong immigrants who forged the prosperity of this austral locality.

The mansion is two floors(flats), and its was construed in masonry of brick, on foundations of stone. The armor of the roof is of wood covered with iron galvanized with texture of scales.



   Lighthouse of The Island Magdalena

The Island Sponge-cake is placed in the Strait of Magellan, 30 kilometres to the north of the city of Punta Arenas. The Faro there located was constructed in 1901 and in the year 1981 the Navy of Chile yielded it in commodate to the National Forest Corporation CONAF, which there guards the island, who enjoys protection as wild protected area.

Isla Magdalena's Faro is visited by the persons' miles a year since a sinnúmero of penguins can contemplate magallanicos to some how many meters of distance.



   Museum Salesiano "Maggiorino Borgatello" of Punta Arenas

Real monument of the regional patrimony, it is the Museum Salesiano "Maggiorino Borgatello". Founded by the salesianos that there was heading the priest Jose Fagnano, doing a tour for more than 100 years, they have managed to preserve valuable collections that represent the cultural and natural occupation of the Patagonia.

They can find ethnological collections, crafts indigenous to the native peoples(villages), onas, tehuelches, yaganes and alacalufes, besides flora and fauna, petrified animals not forgetting the history of the oil in Magellan.
