Strait of Magallanes

The Magallanes Strait is a passage located at south of South America. It is found located among the continental part of South America and the island of Tierra del Fuego and the Cabo de Hornos; is the most largest natural passage and of greater importance between the Atlantic Ocean and the Peaceful Ocean.

The strait was "discovered" in 1520 by Fernando of Magallanes during the first naval crossing around the world. It given that the ships of Magallanes entered to narrow November 1, was called All the Saints Strait. Nevertheless, subsequently the Spanish Crown changed its name to "Narrow of Magallanes", in honor of its discoverer who died sick before being able to return to Europe.
